The Atkinson Cherimoya originates from the sunshine coast and has been used as a rootstock for 1,000's of custard apple plantings across Australia due to its vigour and hardiness.

The skin of the fruit is bumpy for a cherimoya, with a lower seed count than a custard apple inside is a delicious, juicy flesh with sensational flavours of pineapple, passionfruit and mango .

The Cherimoya (Annona cherimola) is close relative to the sugar apple, rollinia, sweetsop and soursop fruits which all belong to the family Annonace.

Cherimoya are heavy croppers of large fruit, low seed count and a juicy flesh and are much more cold tolerant then Custard apples (Annona Atemoya). Cherimoya are also the preferred rootstock for grafting custard apple.
