The Madrono (Rheedia Madruno) is a Very attractive slow growing tree related to Mangosteen and Achacha with beautiful dark green leathery leaves.The Madrono is native to wet forests of Central America.

The small oval shaped fruits are produced in summer reaching up to 5cm. The white pulp has a pleasant aromatic flavour. The Madrono is a very ornamental tree making an excellent display potted plant or feature. The leaves of the Madrono are quite cold hardy and can tolerate winter conditions but may require protection from frosts when young.
