Plants are currently dormant (no leaves for winter). The Cherimoya (Annona cherimola) is close relative to the sugar apple, rollinia, sweetsop and soursop fruits which all belong to the family Annonace. Cherimoya are heavy croppers of large fruit, low seed count and a juicy flesh and are much more cold tolerant then Custard apples (Annona Atemoya). Cherimoya are also the preferred rootstock for custard apple.
