The bronze to golden fruit pods look similar to a large bean incase a thick white pulp that tastes similar to vanilla ice-cream.

The ice cream bean is known for its nitrogen fixing properties and is a good choice as a fast growing shade tree in permaculture and syntropics plantings as well as a chop and drop.
