The Lakoocha also known as the monkey jack is a relative of the well known Jackfruit, Chempedak and Kwai muk.

Lakoocha is a sub tropical tree which grows throughout Asia and India and is known to handle cool temperatures well. The tree is semi deciduous and will lose its leaves only for a briefly late winter into spring.

The fruits are round to irregular in shape ,5-12 cm  wide, with a velvety, dull-green to yellow skin.

The flesh is a mixture of sweet and sour which can be eaten raw but also added into curries or making a chutney.
