Vetiver grass
Vetiver grass
Vetiver is a non-invasive clumping type grass that does not produce viable seed. Vetiver is fantastic for reducing erosion as it produces a robust root system that grows down rather than out from the plant. Vetiver traps sediment and slows down the movement of water. As vetiver is sterile and the grass grows down instead of outward it does not become invasive. Due to the roots being very deep its best to decide carefully where to plant it because it is can be difficult to remove once planted. The Vetiver grass is a great plant to provide free mulch being able to be pruned and used instantly on gardens with out the worry of it being spread.
